There’s no shortage of amazing events in the Nashville area—but the Nashville Iroquois Steeplechase is a special highlight. During the Iroquois Steeplechase the best horses and riders from around the world come together to race on a beautiful turf track.
Also called Nashville’s rite of spring, the Iroquois Steeplechase will beheld for the 78th time in 2019. This year, the even takes place on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Of course there’s more to the Iroquois Steeplechase then just the race itself. The event—which takes place in beautiful Percy Warner Park in Belle Meade—kicks off with tailgating from 8 AM on. There’s even a tailgating contest with prizes for the best tailgate setup, most enthusiastic group, or most delicious food! Opening ceremonies begin at 12 PM, and at 1 PM it’s off to the races. A featured race closes out the day at about 5:30 PM—but not before the popular parade of hounds and giveaways and prizes for the winners of the tailgating contest. And of course, it wouldn’t be a horse race without creative headgear: there’s even a special contest for the best hat photo posted to Instagram.
